Curated Contemporary Art For Your Home
Choosing art for your home is personal. You may know the wall, the room and the feeling you want to create, yet still be unsure which artwork will bring it all together. Our curated collections offer a more considered place to begin.
Explore original contemporary South African art selected for the spaces in which you live. Our room-by-room collections bring together paintings, drawings, handmade prints and sculptural works for living rooms, entrance halls, kitchens, bedrooms, home offices and other thoughtfully designed spaces.
You can also step inside the homes and thinking of artists, collectors, designers and tastemakers through our interviews and guest selections. They share the works they are drawn to, how they choose and display art, and what collecting has come to mean in their lives. Their perspectives offer ideas and encouragement without prescribing how your own collection should look.
These are not collections built around decorating rules. Art does not need to match the sofa or repeat the colours in a room. Instead, each selection considers how an artwork might be experienced at home: its scale on the wall, the mood it creates, the details that reward a closer look and the presence it brings to everyday life.
Whether you are looking for a large statement painting, an original artwork for a narrow hallway, a quieter piece for a bedroom or insight into how experienced collectors make their choices, you will find a thoughtful starting point here.
Every available work is by a contemporary South African artist and offered exclusively through StateoftheART.
Start with a room, a story or a collector’s eye - and find the art you want to live with.
