Artwork Description

Warm sepia and charcoal tones give Temminck’s Pangolin II a rich, almost sculptural depth. The animal is shown curled into a compact defensive posture, with its head tucked beneath the arc of its body and its broad tail wrapping around the lower edge.

Rodwell’s combination of hard-ground etching and chine-collé brings subtle colour and tonal variation to the paper. Pale highlights catch the upper scales, while deeper shadows gather around the head and inner curve, giving the pangolin a strong physical presence. Precise etched marks reveal changes in direction and texture across its natural armour without losing the unity of the rounded form.

This original limited-edition print is numbered 8/20. Presented in a simple black frame, Temminck’s Pangolin II measures 45 x 54 cm framed and is available for R6,750.
