Artwork Description
In Coming Back For More, Kristen McClarty distils the experience of swimming into a series of sweeping gestures and luminous colour. A figure moves diagonally through the water, partially submerged and partially revealed, as currents of turquoise, white and deep blue flow across the composition. The work captures a fleeting moment of movement and momentum—the instinctive pull to return to the water again and again.
Created as a unique oil monotype on Fabriano Tiepolo paper, the artwork balances spontaneity with control. Broad, energetic marks suggest the force of the sea, while warm coral tones describe the swimmer's body as it cuts through the water. Drawing on her own experiences in the ocean, McClarty transforms a personal encounter into an expressive exploration of freedom, resilience and connection with the natural environment. The result is a work that feels both immediate and immersive, inviting viewers to experience the rhythm and exhilaration of movement through water.
