Artwork Description
There is plenty to enjoy in Grace Kotze's Tree of Life, from the brilliant turquoise, pink and orange plumage of the birds to the wonderfully ornate pot in which their tree grows. Look a little closer and you'll find each bird has its own character, perched among the branches or turning towards its neighbour.
Set against a deep black background, the colourful birds and rich green foliage have an almost jewel-like quality. The decorative composition brings to mind traditional paintings of birds and botanical subjects, but Kotze gives it a playful, contemporary personality.
At 60 × 90 cm, Tree of Life is a striking original acrylic painting that would look wonderful in a living room, entrance hall or a space where you want something colourful and a little unexpected. A lovely choice for collectors drawn to bird paintings, nature-inspired art and contemporary South African painting.
