    Artist Notes:
    
    The River Bank pays homage to John Everett Millais painting "Ophelia". It is an exploration of the sheer beauty of the piece, the romance of the floating figure with flowers and the beauty in the varied foliage. As I painted the work the figure of Ophelia is alive in my mind and she has not yet met her fate of drowning. The birds are imagined visitors to the cool and enticing river bank, and the frame talks of the exquisite value the painting and precious birds hold.
