Breathing Space #30 by Karen Wykerd draws you into a landscape that feels both abundant and wonderfully unruly. Slender tree trunks rise through a densely worked forest floor, where soft pinks, blues, greens and flashes of deeper colour gather in layer upon layer of hand embroidery.
Seen from a distance, the work reads almost like a painting. Come closer and the individual stitches reveal themselves, turning foliage, branches and shifting light into a richly textured surface.
