Artwork Description
In "Edge of the Void", South African artist Kate Schärf paints a forest landscape in rich shades of turquoise, teal and deep green. Dark trees frame an opening in the woodland, drawing the eye towards a softly lit clearing that seems to disappear into the distance.
Kate's expressive brushwork gives the trees a wonderful sense of texture, while the cooler, misty colours beyond suggest a landscape that is both familiar and slightly mysterious. The contrast between the dense foreground and the light filtering through the trees makes this small painting particularly engaging.
Painted in oils on canvas and framed in natural kiaat wood, Edge of the Void measures 30.5 × 40 cm. Its beautiful blue-green palette would work especially well in a contemporary interior with natural wood, warm neutrals or understated furnishings.
An original South African landscape painting for collectors who appreciate expressive painting and a more imaginative interpretation of nature.
