Rise and Demise of Sun and Soul

Image size 109 x 140 cm
Paper size 135 x 150 cm
Artwork signed on verso

All life starts and ends, flesh to the soil. Carried by our ancestors in this world while knowing that we will meet again. The blood-red sun and yellow background are the contemplation of life after death. Internalizing sadness and loss. The chair represents the spiritual anchor. The room is a personal space for these intimate thoughts. The fungus, the mushrooms, and the food of a majority of plants give it life. Without it, there are no plants and no life. When our shell has had its time, our body is fed back into the soil, and our energy moves from this world to the next. In the end, we meet again. In the meantime, we wait, and we live. These thoughts are steps in the grieving process. The use of color is to bring comfort, stability, hope, and an understanding of the beauty and fragility of life.
