This work was created as result of being a participating artist in the regional Koekenaap Artist Workshop in the Western Cape, in 2011. The work is inspired by the open landscape, trees, gravel roads, and farm houses of the area. All the photos used to create this work was taken in and around Koekenaap, Lutzville and Doringbaai. As part of the Nuances series, "Koekenaap" also comments on how the earthly and rural lifestyles of the people in the area is more in harmony with nature than urban and suburban lifestyles, and that it is this way of life is endangered by the effects of global warming due to pollution and industrial activity - water in areas like the Karoo, West Coast and Kalahari will become even more scarce than it already is.
Selected for online exhibition "Re:Location" curated by Vivien Kohler.
