Artist Description

Need to know: the frame is not in perfect condition as the artist has purposefully used a reclaimed frame which she has painted.

Making the city my own led me to paint a series of paintings depicting weeds. Cracks in the tarmac, walls, gutters and buildings provide flowerbeds for courageous and persistent weeds. Although cast in the role as the enemy of domestic gardens their beauty is undeniable. Each species holding their own beautiful colours and form.

The dandelion has the most optimistic appearance and persistence in its robust root system and floating seed dispersal system. Children and adults alike, often embrace the magical tradition of blowing on the tufts of seeds and making a wish. And those promises of happiness are echoed in their cheery yellow flowers.
