Artist Description
I think in Re-Framing Dreams IV, more than in any of the other paintings, I focused on preserving the very spontaneous brush strokes made with diluted paint in the face and hand. Only a thin dark grey coloured pencil line brings in a bit more detail in the contours of the face, which can only be seen up close. In all these paintings I especially focused on the act of painting – the application of the paint on the wooden surface. I explored new mark makings and new textures. It was also a challenge to allow the wooden surface to become part of the work, and knowing how much of its surface to integrate into the artwork.
