My work pays homage to my existence, connection to nature and the entirety of life. I reside in a small seaside village where the rural landscape invites an eclectic lifestyle. Experiencing and observing wildlife in its natural habitat excites me and inspires me to create art. From my observations I have discovered many natural wildlife traits which reflect in the human psyche. My pieces range from still life to more conceptual self- portraits. I work in oil paint on canvas (preferably round or oval shaped) and graphite on prepared paper. Current work features myself in the company of indigenous birds. Birds being symbolic for freedom, hope and renewal amongst other things.
In this work I focus on the instinct of birds to return home. Thoughts on where home is and what home means to us.
