      • I have always known I have a talent for expressing myself in art, but I wasn't in the financial position to study fine art. Instead I went into the film industry, working my way up to Art Director which took about 15 years. I then felt compelled to do art, it was burning inside me to do art before I die one day..

I see any type of art as story telling, and I had stories to tell...I only started at age 35 to paint, thinking its only going to take a few workshops, classes and practice to get there. But it definitely doesn't, it is the hardest work I have ever done, because you now you have to bare your soul. I was never one for pretty pictures, I wanted to be biographical.
    • Interview
      • Which new trends or South African artists do you find inspiring at the moment?
Graffiti all over the cities (the beautiful large murals)

Which exhibition that you have visited made the greatest impact on you and why?
Diane Victor - I love the stories she tells. It's like raw truth that hides nothing.

Where do you get your inspiration for your work?
My inspiration is always a surprise to me, I never know when it's going to hit me....

Do you have any rituals or habits involving your art-making that you can tell us about?
I used to have..... but learned that you just have to pick up the damn brush and start!!

What do you like most about being an artist?

I can express my soul with just making any mark I want....

How do you handle bad days when you experience artist's block?

Art is hard work. Just keep going, keep making marks.

What is your greatest achievement as an artist to date?

The hard work I have put in so far in my spare time to teach myself.

Do you feel that you want to make a difference to the world or in people's lives? If yes, how?

Yes, I would like to be a biographical artist, I want to tell stories....

What are your plans for the coming year?

I want to have my first solo exhibition!
