Using as inspiration a maple tree leaf found in the road in Woodstock, and then cut as part of my work during a Thupelo art residency hosted by Ruth Prowse School of Art, this work aims at showing the sacred in ecology. A dry, dead leaf became something of more 'human-perceived' value through my action as an artist. Intrinsically all of nature, all of creation, is sacred. This work is a symbol for me of this. Interestingly the use of mapbook paper of Belville, not too far from Woodstock, was incidental!
