Rocks At Saunders' Rock
When I returned to Cape Town in 2020, after years living overseas, I was surprised to discover places in Cape Town I had never visited before. This was so surprising as I grew up in Cape Town, and I assumed I knew "all the spots". Not so! Saunders' Rock is one of those beaches I probably went to as a child (I have a photo of me, my dad and my sister at a Sea Point beach looking suspiciously like Saunders), but I didn't know it by name until recently. Now that I've discovered it, I return often to paint, usually towards the end of the day. The late evening light is beautiful. That said, this day I had a break in the middle of the day and decided to quickly head over to Saunders. I stood under a palm tree and painted the rocks just off the beach.
