Artist Description
"I planned a painting day with my close friend Beth Lowe. I knew Cape Point was a good bet, although I didn't know exactly where I wanted to go. Thank goodness Beth was with me - she made sure we pulled over our cars very soon after entering the reserve, and we painted this view of Smitswinkel Bay, looking up the coastline. The sun was breaking through the clouds, making for very dramatic skies. We painted quickly - as a Plein Air painter, we don't have many other options - and soon we were both sitting on the bench nearby enjoying tea and rusks as the sun moved high and the exciting morning effect dissipated."
