This work is one of a series called 'Karoo in Shades'.
In 2012 I was invited to submit a number of Black and White photographs to the Kalahari Review, an online publication dedicated to giving writers and artists throughout Africa a platform to exhibit their work. The photographs are mine. The titles given are theirs. I have stuck with their titles.
The photographs are representative of a wider body of work that I am undertaking whereby I have been using my photography to primarily capture both built and intangible aspects of our countries heritage and slowly gathering a portfolio of our significant built, cultural and natural landscapes and the people who inhabit them. My motivation is primarily to provide both a documented record and the emotions and poetry contained therein as I understand them.
