“Woman Crouching” is part of my exploration into the power of the female form, its dualism of expressing sensitivity and strength. Painting humanity is a complex and highly compelling process, exploring the complex process of understanding the intricacies of a form coupled with the emotional values that postures hold.
“Woman Crouching” explores these concerns, but equally present in this work is my delight in paint. This work is the first of the unknown territory of intensifying flesh tones with vibrant colours. Stepping into unfamiliar territory is a wonderful place for me as it means that my paintings keep me surprised and challenged. I plan to explore these ideas further in a series of work, see where the journey takes me.
Both the language of paint and the human form have never ending possibilities for the artist which is invigorating!
