Serurria Florida or the “Blushing Bride”, as it is known locally, has a beautiful legend. It is rumoured to have been used for courtship in the Boland for many generations, at least since the first settlers came to Franschhoek, maybe even before that. I love the symbolism it holds.
Delicate yet tough. The shrub seems messy and unimpressive at first glance, yet it is filled with beautiful, intricate blooms.
When one peers a little deeper, when you look a little closer the absolute diversity and intricacy of our local fynbos opens up. A good analogy for life.
