Artist Description

This series of artworks are divided into three chapters each consisting of three phases: Creation, Translation, and Reinterpretation.
During the Creation stage I would make a painting as free and spontaneous as possible, focusing on expressing myself and having no preconceived image or end product in mind.
During Translation, I would recreate the painting using a different material onto another canvas. Throughout history, many artists have reinterpreted and reworked paintings by their predecessors. I re-interpret and rework my own paintings as a way of analysing my own art as one would analyse one’s own artwork made in an art therapy session. And in this way I continue a self-healing process by facing the spontaneous and sometimes deliberate expressions of what I have made.
Lastly during the Reinterpretation phase I would take everything that I had gone through and learnt during the time making the previous artworks, and revisit them in a different manner, using paint and some of the novel materials used in the Translation phase.
